Power Play

In Luke 5 we see Jesus’ power on display:

• Power over nature
• Power over disease
• Power over deformity
• Power over sin!

Right in between those four “power plays,” we find the power source.

“Reports of Jesus’ power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.”

Luke 5:15-16

The EFFECTS of His power are obvious — nets full of fish, skin cleanses of leprosy, legs that can walk, forgiveness of sin! The CAUSE of the power is much more subtle — Jesus withdrawing to solitary places for prayer. His time with His Heavenly Father was the source of His power.

We want the results. Are we intentional about the process?
