“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 NLT
When children are invited to “come here,” they often do, stopping what they were doing and moving their bodies and their attention in the direction of the invitation.
When adolescents and perhaps even adults are invited to “come here,” they often respond with,”what do you want?” They stay put and continue doing what they were doing while bending an ear or turning a side glance toward the invitation.
The answer to their question is pretty obvious. “Come here.” Stop what you are doing. Stop the striving and distracting and stressing. Put down your stuff. Let down your guard. And come to me.
Jesus invites me to come to him.
Do I respond like a child?
Here I come!
